MMA Strength and Conditioning

All fighters have good days and bad.

The good days are great… first round knockout!  Climb the cage!  Listen to the crowd chant your name!

The bad days?  You get out muscled and shoved around like the skinny kid at recess by someone with less technical skill than you.  Your opponent walks through your punches unafraid so you punch harder and faster… then…you gas and get KTFO!

The sport of MMA demands that you be strong and explosive for the whole fight.  The longer you can produce high levels of strength and power be better off you are during competition.

The problem?  Most fighters are so concerned with endurance that they neglect their strength and power training.  How can you maintain a high level of strength or power over the course of a whole fight if aren’t strong or powerful when you step in the ring?

You have to have strength before you can have strength endurance!

This would be the equivalent of a football player working on speed endurance when he’s the slowest guy in the league.  No one care if he can run at 100% the whole game and is “in great shape” if he’s the slowest guy on the field!!!  Don’t be that guy!  Get stronger!

Stronger doesn’t always mean bigger.  We understand that MMA is a weight class sport and in order to be competitive you have to keep you weight under control.  What’s important is that you be as strong as possible for your size (ie., maximize relative strength).

This is important because given equal skill and training one thing that separates the great fighters from all the others is their level of MMA-specific strength and conditioning.

It will make a good fighter a great fighter!

And it will make a great fighter great every round of every fight!

Plus, it will keep you injury free not just because you’re winning but also because your body is more prepared for the demands of this intense sport.

MMA-specific strength and conditioning truly is that beneficial!  That’s why all the greatest fighter have at least one coach just for strength and conditioning.
