CrossFitters,

We worked our tails off this week and have added a new section to the website.  The new “articles” section currently includes “Doug’s favorite training articles” that I recommends all of our members read.  This article in particular is extremely valuable. It lays out the all the basics of exercise and nutrition in a manner that’s short and easy to understand!

Everyone you know who’s ever exercised should read it… there’s a lot of value there!  Seriously!  The link is right here… go ahead click me… I dare ya!

Ashley and Mike will be adding their favorite articles very soon too!

Nutrition Tip:

There is a lot of debate about carbohydrates these days.  Are they good for you?  Or are they the refined, bleached, micro-filtered pure evil that the newspaper says they are??  The answer is “it depends”.  For simplicity lets just say that the majority of your carbohydrates should come from fruit and veggies that you eat at every meal.

Any “grain type” carbohydrates (bread, pasta, rice, white potatoes, oatmeal, etc…) should be saved for the first meal you eat after you get done exercising.

Immediately post-workout is the time when your body will most likely use those carbohydrates for good things and will NOT be turned into fat (which is more likely the case if you eat them other times of the day).

Summary: Carbohydrates are to be saved for right when you get done exercising.  :-)

We installed new weightlifting platforms this week and they look great!  Click here to see Mike and I giving them a test run!

For the rest of April if you are a new sign up you get half off of your first month.

See y’all in the gym,

Doug and Mike
