Hey CrossFitters,
A lot of you may be wondering about forms for the 2009 Trevor Win’E Memorial Day CrossFit Challenge so here it is: Team Sign Up Form.
Now for the following report from Doug Larson.
Special Report: CrossFit Memphis Serves as Treatment for Chronic Ailment
For those of you who are unaware… a few years back I was diagnosed with a very serious illness. Throughout my teenage years my parents suspected my condition was severe but failed to take action for fear of the truth. I even felt normal given the fact that many of my peers expressed symptoms similar to my own… but then again many people with an eating disorder feel justified in their actions.
I was, and still to this day, am no different. I feel justified. I feel that I shouldn’t have to change. Now it’s too late… I can’t! My condition has been habituated into my daily routine and there‘s no going back. It would simply be too difficult and I don’t believe I have enough will to fight.
Those of you who know me best are already well aware of my condition. Bulimic Amnesia affects many weightlifters. The disease is characterized by years of eating as much food as possible then forgetting to throw it up! Day in and day out my non-weightlifting friends and family members would watch in horror as I would eat my dinner and those of the people sitting next to me.
Modern medicine has little to offer such an affliction. Following my diagnosis in the fall of 2007 I was without a reputable treatment. It wasn’t until Mike Bledsoe opened CrossFit Memphis that I took control of my condition and my life. To this day I still eat constantly and can never seem to remember to throw it up but thanks to Mike and CrossFit Memphis all those extra calories go toward building muscle and improving my physique and performance!
If anyone suspects that they too may suffer from Bulimic Amnesia and would like to prove it you can join me for my bi-monthly Bulimic Amnesia Anonymous (BAA) meeting at Eat Well Japanese Buffet in Bartlett.
While there is no cure for this common pathology we do offer a variety of treatments here at CrossFit Memphis. Email us at crossfitmemphis@gmail.com for more details.
