Doug Larson
Doug Larson, MS, CSCS, NSCA-CPT, USAW

Doug Larson has led quite a life. After a season as a strength coach with the Colorado Rockies Baseball Club, and before attending graduate school at the University of Memphis, he once killed a gray whale using only Bruce Lee’s famous “one inch punch”… it’s true.
As an active MMA fighter and competitive weightlifter, he focuses the majority of his training time on strength and power development (obviously… how else you gonna kill a whale!).
Certified as a USA Weightlifting Sport Performance Coach and an NSCA Strength and Conditioning Specialist, his voracious application of functional anatomy and sports nutrition has proved invaluable for recovery and injury prevention for many CrossFit Memphis members.
His diverse knowledge of sport began as he competed in every sport possible throughout his life. Gymnastics, weightlifting, wrestling, fighting, grappling, baseball, soccer, football… he’s been there.

Mike & Doug – it was great meeting you guys last night and being introduced to Crossfit – I was truly excited about getting started with my first lesson this morning, however, I have evidently come down with a serious cold (you may have noticed me sneezing several times last night – it only got worse – I was up all night coughing and sneezing); I don’t want to spread a bunch of germs around and get everyone else sick so I decided to pass coming in this morning and stayed home to try to rest and beat this ASAP; I did go by the grocery store last night on my way home with the nutrition tip sheet Mike gave me – I am stocked up and ready to go; if I can quit sneezng every 2 minutes I will try to make it in tomorrow, probably in the afternoon; I am stoked about getting started!

That’s to bad man! Hopefully you’re feeling better now that it’s been a few days. You’re welcome back anytime! -Doug
